Day 16 - Halfway Mark!
So last night's post got cut off abruptly...not to worry, Buddy is OK. He woke up and scared the crap out of David with his loud barky cough and wheezing...but I think it was just some croup brought on by the terrible allergy season. But of course, I was completely out of Benadryl, so thank goodness for Walgreen's 24 hour policy! It seemed to do the trick thankfully, but it was past 2:00 a.m. before he went back to sleep! I was just glad we didn't have any plans today...I totally slept in!!! Shift even took over breakfast duties for me ;) Made some biscuits and gravy, that while they didn't hold any resemblance to normal biscuits and gravy, were still weirdly delicious! lol
Getting back to yesterday...my David was off work and I knew Sarah was too...so we had Dave and Sarah over for lunch. It was so nice to hang out sans kids (well, all but Buddy :) and just talk. It's been a while since we were all able to get together. Sometimes that's just the best thing, no plans, no stress, just relaxing and chilling together!
Yesterday was also my turn to host my ladies group from church...gave me a good excuse to really clean the house! lol...actually got it looking pretty good...and now the kids don't have to do their chores today, as they got most of it done yesterday! I might even switch over to doing it on Friday, so we don't have to worry about it over the weekend. Anyways, I had some pork tenderloins, so I figured I'd try out a recipe I had for those, plus a couple of bags of Asian salad mix...oh, and I had a couple of goat cheeses I'd gotten at Trader Joes ages ago, perfect time to use them! Let me tell you, they were so good! One was a Honey Chevre, and the other was Blueberry Goat Cheese...plus some fig preserves and honey and crostinis to serve it on...that's my favorite easy appetizer. Looks super fancy, but like the easiest thing. Anyways, the pork came out really good too...perfectly cooked...it's the worst when it gets overdone and dried out!
Our group started up a few months ago...it's been really good! We usually eat together, taking turns bringing food...visit, see how our lives have been, just talk...then we usually have a topic picked out before hand and do a little research into it (except I'm terrible at that! I usually forget :( ...we delve into that for a while. Last time we talked about discipline...this week was spiritual gifts. Then we sing some worship songs and spend time praying for each other. I really look forward to it! I so happy to be making a deeper connection with some godly ladies...it's just so wonderful! I mean, we all have stuff going on in our lives that is hard...like really hard sometimes...but to get faithful encouragement and wisdom and prayer from each other...well, that's what the body of Christ is supposed to be.
Today was a total lazy day...I didn't even get out of bed till it was afternoon! It was awesome! lol...that is a very rare occurrence these days ;) Lots of lounging around, kids were watching Doctor Who all afternoon (yeah!)...then I made nachos and we all watched Man of Steel...which was way better than I was expecting. Not awesome, but decent...I'd pretty much heard only negatives, so at least is wasn't that bad...lol. Yeah for low expectations!
Sorry DC, I'm still way more of a Marvel fan! At least when it comes to movies...the DC TV world is pretty awesome...Arrow and Flash...and I'm looking forward to Supergirl! But the Marvel TV world is pretty cool too...Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is fun, and I love how they tie into the movies! and Daredevil was fantastic!

Sorry about the crappy pics...I keep running into camera issues. My new SD card reader got broken the day I got it...then last night I totally kicked my other one while it was plugged in and destroyed it. GRRRRR!!!! So I thought I couldn't upload my pics to the computer...totally forgot that I have a USB plug that I can use to connect it...duh! lol...so hopefully tomorrow you'll get better quality pics ;) I'm too lazy to retake them tonight, so y'all got to settle for my cell's awful camera.
